In La Croix : “France-Netherlands, a “no” can hide another one”

In La Croix on May 28 for an Op Ed putting into perspective the France-Netherlands opposition on the European recovery plan by recalling that these two countries had voted “no” to the European Constitution 15 years ago for different reasons.

The opportunity to recall that “building Europe” presupposes a minimum of mutual understanding and respect between its countries and peoples, each of which is the bearer of legitimate aspirations. And that it cannot be built on the denial of other democracies, whose interests and visions must be the basis from which compromises that are useful to all are patiently forged.
