Guest of France 3 to analyse the consequences of the Greek referendum on the European aid plan
Guest of France 3 news edition to analyse the consequences of the Greek referendum on the European aid plan.
“The day after the Greek referendum, we will be confronted with an equation with at least three unknowns,” explains Yves Bertoncini, director of the Jacques Delors Institute.
For him, the first unknown concerns the nature of the verdict, but above all its scope “because it will have an influence on the actors”.
The second unknown relates to the use of the result by the Greek authorities. “Perhaps to amplify their logic of confrontation with European partners or, on the contrary, to soften it and reach an agreement as favourable as possible,” he explains.
The third unknown is the reaction of Europeans, who may “stiffen up on the result or, on the contrary, say to themselves that from now on things are clear and that we must succeed, or not. Divorce is possible”.
Finally, “it will also be necessary to know whether the players are able to overcome their hatred before the next banking deadline, on 20 July: the repayment that Greece owes to the ECB”, concludes Yves Bertoncini.
